Project Experience.
Cox Pharmaceuticals, Barnstaple.
This is a three storey, steel framed manufacturing facility. The foundations consisted of bored concrete piles and in-situ reinforced concrete ground beams. The heavily loaded floors are a combination of pre-cast and in-situ concrete with a high specification of surface finish.
C.H.Brannam Pottery, Barnstaple.
A series of steel framed portal warehouses. The project includes a heavily loaded concrete storage yard and roadways.
Banbury's, Barnstaple.
An adventurously styled two storey warehouse. The building features a curved roof structure and external framing. The cross bracing has also been designed to form decorative elements.
Chicago Rock Cafe, Barnstaple.
Situated in the centre of Barnstaple, this is a steel framed three storey building in a contemporary style. The structure houses a themed restaurant, and leisure areas.
Washford Mill, Watchet, Somerset.
Extensive conversion, restoration and sympathetic extension of historic mill buildings. Its new use as a tourist centre required associated Section 106 works to accesses and highways calming. The project was officially opened in February by HRH Princess Royal.
Library and Telecentre, Lynton
This new amenity was created by the refurbishment and sympathetic conversion of existing old stone buildings.
Fairacre Housing Estate, Barnstaple.
320 unit housing estate involving the design of river diversion works, box culverts, timber footbridge, flood alleviation works, estate roads, and storm and foul drainage. Considerable negotiation was carried out with the local authorities and Environment Agency in order to agree the technical aspects of several packages for highway and drainage works.
Queen Street Surgery, Barnstaple.
A three storey masonry building on a very restricted site. The site survey indicated several large wells and chambers, which required detailed engineering solutions.
Durrant House Hotel, Northam, Bideford.
Temporary roof structure during the extension works to a prominent local hotel.
Appledore Shipbuilders, Appledore.
Steel framed warehouse on a landfill site. Sheet piled sea wall and dock extension. Piled crane foundations for 1000 tonne superstructure lifts. All on the site of Britain's largest covered shipyard.
Roundswell Industrial Estate, Barnstaple
We have been involved with several developments to this estate, including the new Toyota / Suzuki showrooms with exposed Cell form steelwork on this prominent gateway site.
Queens House, Barnstaple
An innovative steel framed pitched roof on an older, concrete framed building restoration. Pyramid shaped canopies were designed to improve and update the front elevation and street scene. This project is featured in the RIBA South West Region Year Book 2000.
Belle Meadow Flats and Citizens Advice Bureau, Barnstaple
A traditionally styled masonry structure with curved slated roof on laminated timber roof structure.
Saunton Restaurant and Public Facilities
Laminated timber two storey structure on reinforced concret raft for Christie Devon Estates.
Sustainable Urban Drainage Pilot Scheme
Drainage for roads and houses has been designed using SUDS methods. We have worked closely with Environment Agency, Devon County Council and North Devon District Council to progress the implementation of acceptable SUDS based disposal of surface water.
Silver Leat Residential Development, Barnstaple
A culvert was designed to accommodate the existing stream and landfill evaluation and design undertaken. This was followed by a detailed engineering design of Section 38 and 104 highway and drainage schemes. Preparation of documentation under ICE conditions of contract tender procedures & contact administration of approx £500,000 earth moving, roads, drainage & converting works.
West Exe School, Exeter.
Working closely with Devon County Council Property Practice we provided all structural design services on this fast track scheme for the £500,000 science laboratory extensions at West Exeter School in Exeter.
